This is my daughter, Rosemary.
She will be three in a few weeks. She is so many things - whimsical, verbal, infuriating. She likes to make her own rules. Needless to say, it's a challenge to get good photos of her these days. She either downright refuses or acts out. You must catch her at the right moment, in the right mood.
I asked her if she wanted to come downstairs with me to do laundry. Oh, she did, but only if she could bring her "lantern" and only if I'd leave all the lights off. I humoured her, and we went downstairs, and she went to the corner by the woodpile, the corner my husband cleaned up in order to throw more wood into. I snuck upstairs for my camera and let her do her thing, twirling and illuminating, while I quietly documented it.
She sometimes drives me crazy. But I know that whatever path she chooses, she will absolutely light her own way.
