February has been weird. There were good parts. Red roses and secret smiles, personal triumphs and happy news. But it has mostly been a long haze of snowstorm after snowstorm, framed with windchill warnings, wrapped up in a layer of unending illness. It's been long and dark and cold and overwhelming. My husband and I are still sick, though the kids are slowly on the mend. As a result, I have not picked up my camera very often; really, just for my daily photo, and that's pretty much it.
I almost didn't bother this month, due to aforementioned challenges, especially the illness that has left us exhausted and doped up. But I don't want to NOT be a part of this every month. These ladies let me celebrate with them, whine with them, laugh with them. I cannot slip away.
My photos represent my February, and are, as such, reminiscent of quiet, of coldness, of looking forward to warmer, healthier days. My snuggling children, the endless baths to amuse them, my husband as he tirelessly tends to their needs, the little spring tree we hope will brighten things. There is nothing earth-shattering here. Just longing. And, oddly, comfort.
