It's spring. Or so I am told. In actuality, we still have 3+ feet of snow and are thrilled with a temp above 0*C. Needless to say, it's been a bad couple of months for the Maritime photographer. I put this off until today, when - FINALLY - it was nice enough to go for a (short, chilly) walk with my youngest (eldest is recovering from a stomach bug, which I hate about winter even more than snow).
I look at other people's photography lately - disappearing snowbanks. Green. Blossoms. Flowers already. Puddles. T-shirts. We have none of that (except puddles). Sometimes I long to live somewhere that has a decent spring. Ours is always cold with the threat of snow.
But maybe it's okay. Maybe when everything does finally awake and arise, new and green, we embrace it more. Maybe we have longed for it so intensely that we notice it more. I know I do. Every day as the snow melts I hungrily search for signs of spring.
They aren't here yet. But spring is coming. It's a promise. And my little one knows this, and shouted, "It's a BEEYEWTEEFUL day out, Mama!" and I thought - you know? It really is.

Next up is Heather Robinson, whose freelensing often makes me gasp. I'm not even kidding. It's that good. Go check her out.
