It took three tries for us to get together for a photo shoot, thanks to my not-so-good friend RAIN. However, we managed a bright, shiny Thanksgiving Sunday morning shoot, during which I followed the Wilcox family to some of their favourite spots near their house - some trails, a playground, swing sets, and finished off with hot (or lukewarm, if you're 1) chocolate in their home. It was relaxed and I feel as if we captured this stage in their lives - three busy but adorable children, traipsing happily on an adventure.
It's a little disconcerting when someone you knew when they were barely out of childhood suddenly has babies of his own. I first met Joel when he was 14 and now he's married to Cheryl (well done) and has a CUTE BABY (also well done). I spent a late afternoon with them in Joel's parents' backyard and left wanting ten thousand more babies, all just like Sophie, with her big blue eyes and chubby cheeks and widdle smile. Eeep. Enjoy, Joel and Cheryl - I know you are just as happy as you look in these photos.
A lot of people wait years to have family photos done, and are, understandably, very excited when the opportunity finally arrives. Lavonna is one of those people. ;) Lavonna, her parents, husband, and kids congregated in bee-yew-tee-ful downtown Freddy and let me drag them around for a while. I kept screwing names up, assuming people were the wrong age (Lindsay, I promise, you'll LOVE that in your thirties..!), and I may get therapy bills in the mail, but I also laughed a LOT and had a blast with this awesome family. Here are a few shots of these lovely people.
I don't know much about horses (or cats, but that's another post for another day). One thing I am quite accustomed to, however, is the love between an animal and a human, and also between a mother and a daughter. Ashley and her horse, Max (and lordy, is he ever wonderful), have one of those relationships people make movies about, which I think is pretty evident in these photos. Once we left the farm, we joined up with a hilarious pair of dogs and Ashley's mom, Bobbi, for some family shots. Enjoy!
This totally adorable fam goes to my church and I know them from way back. Now they've got two boys (side note: best-named boys ever, Robin and Clark) and I get to take photos of them! Lucky me. We drove around to their favourite places on their property and landed at their (under construction) gorgeous new home, where they let me snoop around a bit. The Fowlers are fun and hilarious and I love taking photos of their happy faces and forcing Rudi to do uncomfortable, cheesy poses. Whee! Enjoy!
Every once in a while, I have a session that possesses a certain kind of magic. This was absolutely one of them. Everything about it went exactly how I'd envisioned it - the sun obeyed, the location was perfect and quiet, and this little family exuded love from every pore so I didn't even have to force closeness. ;) Charley recently turned one; she loves walking and smiling and pretty much just being adorable. I think it's pretty obvious from these photos that Kat and Michael are completely, utterly smitten, and I don't blame them. Here are a few of the more candid shots I captured - try not to "awww" TOO much, if you can help it.
